Our Logo
Our logo was created through input from all members and went through several phases until this final version was approved by all.
•It uses traditional colors of black, red, yellow, white and blue.
•The logo also utilizes five sticks for the 5 programs of UAII (Robert Sundance Wellness Center, Los Angeles American Indian Health Project, American Indian Clubhouse, Seven Generations Child and Family Counseling Services, Ah-No-Ven Youth Residential Treatment Center).
•In the backround, it includes a map of the freeways to honor the original American Indian Tribes of LA, and their pathways that some of the freeways where built over.
•The outside circle is symbolic of the freeways that connect us all today (our members come from throughout LA) and shows our urban roots.
•The bear paw is colored red – a traditional color of medicine.
•The turtle is colored black – a traditional color representing mother earth.
•The drumstick design is simple, to respect a value that we have acknowledged in today’s busy world. The background is colored blue to tie in the "river" aspect in our name and to represent the “first medicine” for Native people.
•The type face is young and sleek, representing our focus on the youth.
